Bridge
You’ve found Pogue’s Run. This spring fed stream provided the source water for original H.E. Pogue Distillery in 1876. During recent renovation, a portion of the original dam was discovered. The photos below document the restoration of the stone bridge by 3 of the USA’s most talented Master Stone Masons: Ashley Meadows, Mark Miller, and Richard Tinsley. Approximately 200,000 lbs of Kentucky Limestone was carefully hand-placed in order to resurrect the structure, which serves as entrance to the modern Old Pogue Distillery. No mortar is used during the dry masonry process. Pressure from the overlying layers of rock and careful fitting of each stone face together are responsible for locking the structure in place.
